Vancouver, British Columbia (BC), Canada, Saturday, May 9, 2026; 12:30pm / Five Fold Feature Films Inc. (Canada) ⏤ The Last Reckoning wraps up a year of international nominations and wins by coming home from festivals to where it was shot and edited ⏤ Vancouver, British Columbia. May 9, 2026 marks the official premiere of the Canadian-controlled feature film, a crime-drama made almost entirely by filmmakers from Metro Vancouver. Cast and crew will be in attendance, awards will be presented, and a live Q&A will conclude the 102-minute screening. Rated PG for coarse language and violence, the RIO is has a licensed concession stand and so team photos shall be taken and drinks shall follow in celebration of this milestone.
The Last Reckoning is a 2025 award-winning crime-drama shot in Vancouver produced, written & edited by Grant Gladish, produced & directed by Garnet Campbell, and starring Drummond Macdougall, Grant Gladish, Julien Minet and Anja Marcetic. Its slow-burning suspense and moral complexity have nudged it to "Best Film" or "Best Drama" in Munich, Germany; Tbilisi, Georgia; Dublin, Ireland; Atlanta, USA; and Kyoto, Japan.
The film's story follows a prestigious attorney (Gladish) who colludes with his impulsive brother (Minet) to hide a manslaughter, but when an innocent is charged instead, their plans spiral out of control, leading to a moral reckoning and an inevitable judgment. Canadian actor, Drummond Macdougall, plays the surprise character that serves up a final-act climax that has been delightfully unnerving audiences in city after city.
Drama, crime, mystery ⏤ even romance with the entanglement of a femme fatale (Marcetic) ⏤ marks this slow-burning film. Life-and-death-stakes, set within a believable narrative with its whiffs of Romeo & Juliet, make this Canadian picture stand out from so much other plot-driven fare. The vision and themes of The Last Reckoning will haunt viewers long after its screening.
Doors open at 12:00pm and the film screens at 12:30pm. Awards, Q&A, photos and drinks will follow after 2:15pm. The event ends at 4pm. The RIO Theatre on Broadway and Commercial, voted #1 Independent Theatre in Vancouver, is a multimedia venue for premier independent cinema of feature films and live entertainment. I just wanted to take a moment to sincerely congratulate you both on The Last Reckoning. What an incredible achievement.
Garnet, directing a feature film takes vision, leadership, patience, and real creative strength and you clearly brought all of that to this project.
Grant, writing a story with that kind of moral weight and dramatic tension is no small thing. The premise is powerful, loyalty, guilt, justice, and consequence all colliding in a way that feels timeless.
You should both be very proud. It takes courage to make a film, but it takes even more courage to tell a story that asks real questions about conscience and accountability.
Congratulations again, my friends. I’m genuinely proud of you both and excited to see where The Last Reckoning takes you next.
