The Last Reckoning is a 2025 award-winning crime-drama shot in Vancouver produced, written & edited by Grant Gladish, produced & directed by Garnet Campbell, and starring Drummond Macdougall, Grant Gladish, Julien Minet and Anja Marcetic. Its slow-burning suspense and moral complexity have nudged it to "Best Film" or "Best Drama" in Munich, Germany; Tbilisi, Georgia; Dublin, Ireland; Atlanta, USA; and Kyoto, Japan.
The film's story follows a prestigious attorney (Gladish) who colludes with his impulsive brother (Minet) to hide a manslaughter, but when an innocent is charged instead, their plans spiral out of control, leading to a moral reckoning and an inevitable judgment. Canadian actor, Drummond Macdougall, plays the surprise character that serves up a final-act climax that has been delightfully unnerving audiences in city after city.
Drama, crime, mystery ⏤ even romance with the entanglement of a femme fatale (Marcetic) ⏤ marks this slow-burning film. Life-and-death-stakes, set within a believable narrative with its whiffs of Romeo & Juliet, make this Canadian picture stand out from so much other plot-driven fare. BEST FEATURE FILM, Winter, 2025 - in Tbilisi, Georgia

THE LAST RECKONING, 102-minutes, was screened live at the 6TH Edition of The Action Thriller Crime Adventure Film Festival in Tbilisi, Georgia and Five Fold Feature Films Inc. was glad to receive insightful reviews from jurors and festival goers alike:
JURY REACTION
Your cinematic voice — calm, controlled, and emotionally surgical — turns a legal thriller into something far more human: a portrait of two brothers collapsing under the truth they tried to bury.
This film captivated our team with its emotional complexity, strong performances, and slow-burning suspense. The spiral of guilt, loyalty, and justice plays out with remarkable tension, turning a crime cover-up into a deeply human moral tragedy. THE LAST RECKONING is thoughtful, elegant, and unflinchingly honest — a true standout in this year’s feature lineup.
We are honored to showcase THE LAST RECKONING as the emotional centerpiece of our second day, closing out the festival with a film that lingers long after the lights go up.
AUDIENCE REACTION
“The film hooks you with its moral tension from the opening scenes. I loved how the dialogues between the brothers slowly reveal the growing rift. One calculated, the other impulsive. The editing during the ‘reckoning’ moments is razor-sharp. A rare crime drama that focuses not on the crime, but on the internal courtroom.”
“That scene where he’s lying on the couch with his eyes closed… I felt all his guilt and exhaustion. It’s like he’s been carrying that weight for years. And the moment the girl holds his face—it’s one second of warmth in a very dark story.”
"A very unusual and interesting film. Against a slow-moving plot, a multifaceted psychological portrait unfolds — different viewpoints, positions, the problem of choice, priorities, and personal justice. The film is strangely mesmerizing. Thank you!"
"I truly enjoyed the acting. Not a single false word or note. The emotions are a bit restrained, but everything is soft, precise, believable, and incredibly beautiful!"

FULL METAL HACKET

REVISED, January, 2026. As Grant Gladish experiences film festival excitement with his first feature film, THE LAST RECKONING, he is already in development for a high-value short film, "Full Metal Hacket," a comical parody of the famous Stanley Kubrick film, FULL METAL JACKET.
This 15-minute comedy will poke fun at the historical conventions and common expectations often connected with the experience of basic training and one's introduction to military life, and it will do so as an ode to Kubrick's iconic touchstone.
To be shot in Metro Vancouver on a date TBA, this short-film shall be an asset to show the ability of Grant Gladish as film director, to show his capability to make a piece that looks and feels as good as any Kubrick film.
Currently, this film is stalled and will re-enter pre-production on a date TBA.
